Katherine Heigl recently gave a preview of what "Suits" fans can expect from her new character.
[post_ads]Heigl, who is a self-proclaimed "Suits" fangirl, will be joining the popular USA Network series in its eighth season. According to her, the show's appeal lies on the "fearless" quality of its characters.
"They're really just confident and comfortable in their own skin," Heigl told TV Line. "They have flaws, and they have insecurities, for sure, but they're not afraid to push boundaries. They're not afraid to push back."
Heigl's character, Samantha Wheeler, is the same. She's a lawyer who is "just willing to go there."
"Whether she's afraid or not, she's going to do it, and I think that's the definition of courage," Heigl said about Samantha. "She's not always right, and sometimes her methods are a little shady, and sometimes she's shady. But she's really good at her job."
Heigl's character will make its debut in "Suits" Season 8's premiere episode. Heigl and Dule Hill are joining the new season of the paralegal drama after Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams took their respective exits in the last season.
Markle and Adams portrayed the roles of lovers Rachel Zayne and Mike Ross in the series, respectively. Their characters got married in the season 7 finale.
Just recently, the Duchess of York admitted that she missed the series. While Prince Harry and Markle were in Dublin, a woman approached the new royal and told her that she missed "Suits" and Markle said that she felt the same.
"I'm a fan of 'Suits' and I said to her that I miss it and she said 'so do I,'" Fiona Moore told reporters.
Markle and Adams' co-stars are saddened by their departure. According to Gabriel Macht, there's a bit of void on set after filming without them.
"It's been a real transition not having them on set," Macht said. "There is a bit of a void -- not to say that we haven't gotten an incredible cast of actors who have come on board with us and the ensemble is so fresh and new. It's part of the old, but it's very new."
Chris McCumber, the president of Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, has the same sentiment.
"While we're excited for Season 8, everyone at USA will deeply miss Patrick and Meghan, and are grateful for the talent and commitment they brought to 'Suits' season after season. We wish each of them nothing but the very best," McCumber said in a statement.
"Suits" Season 8 premieres Wednesday, July 18, at 9 p.m. EDT on USA.
